Corfu Town

Corfu (Greek: Kerkyra) is a city and a former municipality on the island of Corfu, Ionian Islands, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Corfu, of which it is a municipal unit. It is the capital of the island and of the Corfu peripheral unit. The city also serves as a capital for the periphery of the Ionian Islands. The city (pop. 28,185 in 2001) is a major tourist attraction, and has played an important role since the 8th century. The city has become known as a Kastropolis (Castle City) because of its two castles. In 2007, the old town of the city was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Mount Pantokrator

Mount Pantokrator (sometimes Pantocrator, Pantokrator) is a mountain located in north-eastern Corfu. At 906m (2,972 ft) it is the highest mountain on the island. At the summit the whole of Corfu can be seen, as well as Albania which lies a short distance from the island. On particularly clear days it is also possible to see Italy despite it being around 130 km (80 miles) away. At the top there is a cafe for tourists, a telecommunications station, whose largest tower stands directly over a well, and a monastery.

Peroulades

Peroulades: a traditional village with a rich architectural inheritance dating from Venetian times. You will see arches, doorways, old-fashioned grocers' stores, and the ruins of the house where the poet Andreas Calvos lived. From this point a road leads to the spectacular shoreline at Cape Drastis.

Sidari

Sidari is the most famous tourist resort of north Corfu and one of the places that every visitor of the island have to see. It is found in distance 32 km away from the city. It has acquired world reputation, which it owes in famous "Canal d' Amour". It is an infrequent natural phenomenon. It is an underground path between two rocks that the visitor can easily walk to, due to shallow waters. This point is recommended for diving. There are many caves under the canal.

Nymfes

Nymfes (meaning Nymphs) is a village in the northern part of the island of Corfu. It was the seat of the municipality of Thinali. Its 2001 population was 756 for the village and 1,124 for the community. Nymfes is located north of the city of Corfu and near Episkepsi. Several hills dominate the area and farmlands cover the area and the bay dominates the northeast, the 20th parallel east is about 2 km to the east along with the municipal boundary with Lefkimmi. It also has a nearby beach which makes the place famous.

Roda

Roda is a small lovely sleepy fishing village. Situated 38 kilometres Northwest of Corfu town ( Kerkyra ), on the northern tip of the Ionian Islands. Roda has one of the longest sand/shingle beach with shallow waters safe for swimming, each stretches for 4 kilometres along the length of the village and has been awarded a blue f lag. Unlike some of the resorts, most of the original buildings still stand, giving Roda a unique quality. Across the blue waters, lies the amazing coastal mountain range of Albania and behind Roda is Pantokratoras the highest point on the island of Corfu, the scenery is therefore spectacular. An ideal destination for everybody of all ages. It is possible to go long beautiful walks, (on the flat) walking if you like amongst nature. Trekking is also available if you like horse riding. On the sea front there is a water sport school. Several car offices are dotted around the village.

Antinioti Lake

The picturesque Antinioti Lake lies after passing Acharavi, to the way to Kassiopi, in a magnificent area of great ecological interest.Its sweet and warm water meets the salty one, in a poetic coupling. Situated in the north side of the island, the lagoon covers 100 acres and provides a home for fish, mammals, amphibians, reptiles and many rare birds (96 different species have been spotted here). For instance, it shelters the most likely important population of otters, in spite of the daily and strong bird shooting from October to May. The reason is a huge reed bed that provides food as well as quiet hides and Holts without pollution. It is an important wetland biotope, a nature reserve and has been designated as a protected area.A special place for quiet walks with the scent of eucalyptus, pine and sea saltiness.

Loutses Caves

The caves of Loutses offer a unique chance to experience the wild beauty of Corfu...Reaching the edge of the cave, it shows its whole size and beauty. The "ceiling" is filled with stalactites which make the scenery a breathtaking one. The bottom of the Loutses cave is covered by green algae which are lightened up by the sun touching them. In the wintertime the cave is filled with water. This offers an even more amazing view.

Chalikounas

Chalikounas is a wonderful choice for a peaceful holiday with its endless sandy beach and local tavernas/restaurants. Lake Korrison is closeby which is a home for many rare bird species. Apart from the fabulous main beach, other pretty spots such as Skidi and Prasoudi offer more secluded options for sunbathing and swimming.

Paleokastritsa

Paleokastritsa is a lively village along Corfu's rocky north-west coastline. It's set in the middle of a clover-shaped bay surrounded by wooded hills and olive groves - and overlooking the town is an 18th-century hilltop monastery. Half-a-dozen little beaches dot the bay and there are tavernas and cafe-bars spread around them. Plus there's a colourful little port about 5 minutes' walk from the village centre.
